Celebrity Wedding Dresses to Inspire You

Allow yourself to be inspired by these celebrity wedding dresses.  Celebrities may seem so inaccessible to the average person but a bride is a bride and I am sure they agonised over the fit, fabric and finish of their dress and whether they would look like everything they ever wished for on their wedding day. Take a look at 10 celebrities, whose wedding dresses I absolutely love and see how you can put a spin on any of these to create your own dream dress. Tell me what you'll have done differently if it was you.

Enjoy...

1. GRACE KELLY

I don't think I have ever seen a bride more beautiful than Grace Kelly was on her wedding day. My heart skips a beat every time I see this dress. (Pardon this cliche but it is true)

This peau de soie and lace masterpiece of a wedding dress is described as one of the most elegant wedding dresses ever made and has inspired many a bride to this very day; even our very own Kate Middleton.

This stunning dress was created by Helen Rose, a costume designer in the wardrobe department of Metro Goldwyn Meyer (MGM) and was gifted to Grace by MGM.

2. JACKIE KENNEDY

Jackie Kennedy's dress was created by dressmaker, Ann Lowe of New York and the fact that she was not happy to wear this dress is an open secret.

We, for one, are very glad she eventually gave in to the pressure by her mum and wore it because she looked an absolute vision in this silk taffeta off shoulder beauty.

The dress had a big bouffant skirt which was embellished with wax flowers and ruffles arranged in a circular fashion.

Jackie was every inch the American princess in this beautiful wedding dress.

3. KATE MIDDLETON

Our very own real life princess looked absolutely amazing in a soft lace overlay and ivory silk skirted wedding dress designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen.

The fact that this dress cost a whopping £250,000 is not lost on us but we think it looked fit for a (future) queen.  She looked an absolute dream; so regale, confident and demure all at the same time.

I held my breath when she stepped out of the car and shed a tear for the sheer beauty of what was happening to the woman and how befitting that wedding dress was for the occasion.

I believe Kate could have definitely rocked a mermaid style or any other design to accentuate her absolutely gorgeous physique but this dress was just perfect for a princess.

4. VICTORIA BECKHAM

This beautiful champagne coloured satin wedding dress was created by Vera Wang specially for Posh who told Vera that she wanted the dress to make her look like a 'rock queen' bride.

The dress was more traditional than I would have expected Victoria to wear with its full skirt and very long train, but you can she how she added her own touch to the neckline.  We love this dress.

You can go for a softer look with this wedding dress by having it created in a silk organza fabric for uber drapery and swish on the skirt and fabulous structure and support of the bodice without loosing the luxurious sheen that the fabric adds to the style.

5. GWEN STEFANI

Gwen wore this fuchsia ombre dress designed by John Galliano which she describes as her unbelievable, perfect dress.

We love Gwen and her adventurous spirit which is totally represented by the two tone feature of this gorgeous wedding dress. For those of you more traditional ladies, go for this bridal gown design in plain white, ivory or maybe champagne and add a splash of colour through your make up or jewellery.

6. NICOLE RICHIE

Another Grace Kelly inspired wedding dress and designed for Nicole by Marchesa. This dress really did make Nicole Richie look like a modern day princess with its intricate lace detail on the bodice and hand draped silk organza and tulle petals on the skirt.

She looked so happy and beautiful, it melts the heart and we loved how her wedding gown made her look so soft, feminine and angelic.

Go for this bridal gown  design but with a softer, less 3D lace fabric and a more tempered skirt to achieve an elegant and understated look for your big day.

7. KATE MOSS

A sleek stunner for a sleek stunner.  Another bridal sensation designed by John Galliano and created in a lovely cream vintage design. Bias cut and sleevless, in the most delicate sheer tulle fabric and embellished with gold leaf embroidery and delicious sparkles.  She looked absolutely amazing in this not very traditional but so gorgeous wedding dress.

This is a dress that is dramatic and subtle all at the same time and would look wonderful for a summer wedding or beach wedding.  We love the veil and flowers in her hair. Its all so 'midsummer night's dream'.

8. ALI LARTER

We love love love this dress created by Vera Wang.  Ali got married to actor Hayes MacArthur wearing the beautiful Luxe Le Noire wedding dress retailing at $8,900.  Not affordable for the average bride but could certainly inspire your own design. The dress is created using a lovely chantilly lace fabric and corded lace applique with a sweetheart neckline and tiny straps.  It also has a deep back which is oh so sexy.  Ali looked a vision of understated elegance and every inch a blushing bride in this wonderful dress.  Pair off this dress with a lace trimmed cathedral veil for extra effect but make sure the trim is created with a very soft sinewy lace fabric so it does not hang heavy over your head but billows as you walk down the aisle.

9. ZARA PHILLIPS

Zara wore a wedding dress of ivory duchess silk and softly ribbed fraile designed by the queen's own couturier, Stewart Parvin.

Her skirt had numerous layers of stiff lace underneath to give it volume. The dress had a lovely touch of soft gathered tulle wide straps for modesty rather than the matching jacket she was initially tipped to prefer. We think she looked so lovely.

For a more modern look, wear this dress with lace sleeves embellished very delicately with tiny glass beads and a scattering of glass beads around the hemline for that extra bling.

10. KIM KARDASHIAN

Even though the marriage only lasted 2 months, this list would have been incomplete without Kim Kardashian as I do love all three of her wedding dresses designed by Vera Wang.

Yes, I said three wedding dresses. She does have a fabulously gorgeous hour glass figure so I guess she needed three opportunities to show us what she had.

Which of Kim's dresses is more you?
